The eastern newt (Notophthalmus viridescens) is a common newt of eastern North America.

I bought eggs from ebay. They did very well - I had lots of nymphs crawling on the bottom on the pond.

I assume they all transitioned to land - they are very secretive. I hope to find one in the garden some day.
